How to live the moment

It is come to my attention that at some point in life whether it is in our 20’s, 30’s or 40’s we might feel lost due to a disturbance of our life experience. I have been trying to figure out the meaning of “feeling lost”. It is a terminology most of us use when we are trying to find a purpose in life, or struggling with our identity. It is important to acknowledge the meaning of feeling lost. From my personal experience, when I was feeling lost, I had to come back to the present, and be in the moment, where I new I was safe. There were a lot of times where I got caught up planning the future, and talking about all this choices I had. It really made me feel lost, because I couldn’t figure out what was the best path or decision to take. However, it is important to know that regardless, of the situation, or the choices one has to make whether it leads us to success or failure we are still breathing. If you are breathing you are living. And if you are living you are learning.

Last year was a little tough for me. It was my second year of marriage; I changed jobs three times, and at some point navigated two jobs while being in school. I was trying to find myself within the career I wanted to go into. I was really accelerating and juggling my life choices in one year. I am currently enrolled in a masters program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am for sure passionate this is the path I want to take, of course it has not been easy trying to finish school, and working full time, but each day I know it is taking me to my life long goal. Yes, it is easy to go into social media and see everyone’s perfect life, but it is just a glimpse of their happy days. I will probably never post a picture of me crying past midnight, because I am so tired, and have no inspiration in writing a case behavioral plan for a class. However, I might show you that I finished the assignment, and that I aced the class. I will probably never show you the real struggle it is taking to finish this program. So let us not be so hard on ourselves. Let us love and care for ourselves a little more each day.

Coping with Change

There have been a lot of changes going on in the world. There is a lot environmental, and social alterations due to the health crisis we are facing. It has not been easy for many people; it has affected a lot of us with finances, and our social life. As humans we crave the intimacy of others, and the ability to commence actions in order to achieve our goals and dreams. However, it seems impossible to even start.

Recently, my husband graduated from college and has received his degree in Sports management; however we all know most sports are cancelled, so there is no business there. I know the stressful situation he is dealing with after years of education it is difficult to take this career path into action. It has not been easy for both of us to continue life without accepting the changes around us. It is difficult for many couples to adhere a peaceful, healthy relationship when a lot of changes in our life are occurring. I understand that it may not be easy having to cope and grasp the situation we are facing, but through this crisis it is important to maintain peaceful. I know, it seems quite cliché to say that, but at this moment all we can do is actually live the moment, and learn from it. I can sit down, and think about how dreadful this year has been, and how all of our goals, and travel destinations have been cancelled. However, I am deciding to be patient, and let life be, and live the moment to the fullest. It is not easy, but not impossible. Every morning we can decide to be bitter or to be sweeter. I am deciding to be sweeter, and give others the good energy the world needs.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

A new Era

Yes, we were all anxious and excited to start a new decade. A decade that some of us prayed for. Personally, I prayed for strength in my faith, and hope for my life. It is a fact that we are all experiencing world crisis. A crisis we never imagined to be part of. Who do I trust? Where do I look for answers about this virus? Of course, we all know there have been other diseases that have been deadlier. But it is not a competition. It is another disease added to our agenda. A disease that can perhaps be overpass, or it can be deadly if your immune system is weak. I look around me and there are people in fear of contagion. Yes, it can be scary, I can think about it every day, and get anxious. I am not quarantining, or working from home, I have to physically show up to work, and help those who cannot help themselves. I am part of the behavior services team, and just like patients need doctors and nurses to help with diseases, they need help with their mental health. It will only worsen due to change in their environment. We are here to not only help patients, but also help staff overcome this crisis. It is important to maintain calm, to breath, and to be thankful we are able to serve others in an era of a worldwide crisis.

Listen to the Whisper of Love

Laughing our problems away. There were times I would take life so seriously, and wanted life according to society’s timeline. I know a lot of people have said everyone has their own time line and to not get caught up with what society wants. I understood soon enough that life was not a rush nor a competition. I had to take every step one at a time. I had to stop at every step and enjoy it. I always had a an agenda with goals and plans of life. And boy, if that did not go accordingly to my plans, I would freak, and get anxious. However, this year I have let life be. Just going with the flow and started accepting where I am in life, and visualizing where I wanted to be without compromising myself or people around me. We are all uniquely different, and have so many gifts to share with this world. Gifts are not always materialistic things, it is sharing your love, joy, and kindness to others. Sometimes people just want someone to just listen, and to be there. You don’t always have to understand the thoughts or acts of people. You can listen and love.

Growth

I am a human with so many flaws. I have gained and lost friends. It’s part of life as we grow older and develop into our new stage of life. Each stage it’s so crucial, you will not only learn so much about yourself, but you learn how much your presence can affect others. I have to remind myself to keep on pushing. If I am breathing than I need to live a beautiful life. There are moments in my life that I feel behind or left out within the generations. Growing into a positive mindset takes time, and practice. Trusting the process of our destiny. We don’t always wake up everyday and like the persona that is reflected in the mirror. Sometimes we will feel discouraged, and even contemplate life. Everyone has doubted their purpose in life once.
I encourage you to keep pushing and breathing this beautiful life. Be yourself, and always stand to what you believe in. Always trust the purpose. A tree grows every year, and regardless of the changes in the environment, it evolves within the seasons each year. A tree will never stop being a tree during cold winter days. So you will never stop being you regardless of your environment changes. You will grow, and evolve exactly where you need to be in life.

Our Destiny. My Destiny. Your Destiny

My husband and I have been married for almost 2 years, and today marks 8 years of being together!!!! I seriously can’t believe how much time has passed by. It has been quite the journey. We have learned so much about each other. We have learned to love, to be patient, and to be more caring. Each relationship is unique we all have our differences. Trust me when I say relationships can get really complicated and messy. It is the reason we need to nourish our relationship daily. As the years pass by we acknowledge our flaws and weaknesses, so we accept them and help each other achieve our goals. Our first year of marriage was not easy at all. We really had to compromise in so many aspects of our life. Financially was one of them, and we managed slowly to budget, and invest for our future. We are both in school at the moment, and well it has been a little stressful. However, we make sure each week we have time for the both of us. We started a new routine each night before bed, and it has helped us in our relationship so much. Each night before we go to bed we will talk about our day, our goals, dreams, desires, and we read a little scripture following with prayer. Let me just say this routine has really helped our spiritual and mental health. It is important we are both spiritually, mentally, and physically healthy. In a relationship we are two in one. We are two different people who decided to be devoted to each other, and love unconditionally. I am not always motivated to keep going, sometimes I am drained, and stress can get the best of me. However, I know I have a partner who is supportive, loving, and lift me up when I feel at my lowest. At the end of the day, we need each other to keep on going in life, and to achieve all of our goal. Remember who you are, and your purpose of your own destiny.

Fear of the Unknown

Last night as I was getting ready for bed, I thought of my journey in life so far. It has not been an easy path, but I have learned so much about myself as a person. I have grown and taken leaps of faith. I have learned to trust the process. God has a purpose and a plan for our life don’t give up. Life is beautiful, and yes sometimes is not always so bright. However, opening our eyes, walking step by step, listening to our heart, speaking truth, and being able to breathe has given me the ability to be grateful. I have always been scared of the unknown, I fear not knowing what tomorrow holds. I am still learning to trust in God and not fear of my future. I am growing and learning. I am outstanding, I am intelligent, I am beautiful, and I live a life with purpose. Be kind and loving to yourself everyday.

5 Steps for Self-Care

It is important to put yourself first. Take care of your well-being. Relax and breath. There will be obstacles in life that will disrupt our daily living, so it will be essential for us to put our self in a healthy mindset. Five easy steps to do daily for self-care:

  1. Meditate. Take five minutes daily to meditate clear your mind, and breathe.
  2. Be grateful. Think of all the blessing you have.
  3. Exercise. Move your body at least 30 min daily.
  4. Self-love. Say something positive about yourself whether is internal or external.
  5. Eat healthy. Your body is a beautiful temple, eat for a purpose.

Breathe…

I have challenged myself this week to meditate at least ten minutes daily. I am wanting to have a clear mind and serenity of my future. I am aware I am at an age of many trials, and confusion. I am still trying to figure out where I want to be in life. I want to be a creative writer, and an amazing counselor. I am certain of myself that the universe is always at our favor. Sometimes all we need is gratitude and love. Life has not been easy, but daily I am grateful for where I am in life. I challenge you to take a deep breath, and not be so harsh on yourself. You have done an amazing job by waking up, smiling and showing up in this crazy world. We are all different, and unique in our own ways. You have strength to conquer the world.

Is it Quarter Life Crisis?

Life at twenty-five years old it is hella hard. I mean you have all these goals you want to achieve, and it seems there is not time for them. I have caught up myself worrying about my future, my career, and my financial status. Now, this has caused me to feel anxious, and stress. Lately I have stopped myself to take a deep breath and focused on the situations I am able to manage, and make a list of goals to achieve daily. It is great to dream big, and want more for oneself, but it is important to take care of our well-being. It has been a priority for myself to balance my spiritual, mental, and physical health. I believe this helps us achieve many things in life. I am no expert in counseling, yet. However, it is my goal to one day be a professional counselor, so I can help many powerful women achieve their ultimate goals in life. As in for now, I am still looking for inspiration to keep going in life. Take a breath. You are only human.
